Point Cloud Software 5 Months ago Karma: 0  
I am looking for a software to use point cloud data to prepare CAD model. The data will be coming from a digital laser scanner.

Does anyone has previous experience in that field? What software would you recommend?

I currently use Pro/Engineer for CAD modelling: is there any software to work with point cloud data that works best with Pro/E?

Any comments/advise is welcome.

Pierre,

Take a look at Rapidform XOR. It does exactly what you're looking for. You import a point cloud or a mesh from a 3D scanner, and then create a parametric CAD solid in the software. Then it can generate a native Pro/E model with its Livetransfer tool.

Hi Pierre

SolidWorks Office professional (from SolidWorks 2007 onwards) comes with an add-on component named "ScanTo3D". You can access this add-on through tools menu. This can convert point cloud data -> Mesh -> 3D surfaces.
