I am new to this site, so far I really like it and think that it can be very helpful to the CAD community online.
Anyway, I have the following problem. Recently, I installed AutoCAD 2008, not the LT, but the full version. My label _style_ does not change when I change the text _style_ value to a different size.
What I mean is when using this option in the Add Label - Line Label _style_. The _style_ has the correct Text _style_ with the proper value but when I pick a line to give it a dimension the size I get is too big. I change the text _style_ but this doesn't update the Preview option or the dwg itself.
Does someone know how can this be fixed, maybe I am doing something wrong?
I haven't used AutoCAD 2008 yet, but maybe I can still help you out.
In AutoCAD there is a difference between Text__style_ and Dimension__style_. Text__style_ controls how your text looks on screen, much like changing the font in a word processing application. It can change the height and width of the text, but only to conform to that certain _style_. If you are wanting to change the height, width, _style_, etc. of text than you would need to modify it's properties.
Dimensions work in a similar manner to text. They have a global setting for each drawing that is the Dimension__style_. You can have more than one Dimension__style_ for each drawing and each one can have whatever properties you want it to. You can change the text _style_ of each dimension (and it sounds like you have that part down), but if it is still to big, you need to also change the height of the text in the dimension properties.
In AutcCAD 2006, I use the command "ddmodify" (minus the quotes). Try typing that in and then selecting the dimension that is to big. You should get a dialog box with multiple options to change and configure that dimension however you want, including text height.
You probably aren't going to want to edit every single dimension individually though so it would be wise to modify the global setting for that drawing. Using the menu bar at top select Dimensions --> _style_. From there select Modify and then change the settings around much the way you did with the "ddmodify" command. This will update all the dimensions on the drawing at the same time and all future dimensions will have the same properties.
Thanks a lot for your detailed reply. It was really helpful. I modified the global settings so that I do not have to reenter the info every time, now it is global for the drawing.
once again, 10xs a lot If I have more questions, sure I will, i'll post at this forum.
