Xref problems in Autocad and civil 3D 10 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Hello,
I am having this problem:
I have a drawing that has been done in civil 3D, I need to have the printer studio to plot it for me. They use autoCAD 2006, when i send them the drawing, the xref does not open. Any idea how to fix this?

thanks and all the best

Hi Brad!

Are you sending the Xref to them as well as the drawing? When they load up the drawing in AutoCAD it will go looking for the Xref file to load. If they don't have it, then it won't load.

If you are sending the Xref with the drawing file, they need to make sure AutoCAD is looking in the right place for the Xref. They can put the Xref file in their default directory or manaully point AutoCAD in the right direction. It sounds like they will print this file for you and then delete it, so manually selecting the file is the best course of action.

Let me know how it turns out.

Helllo Addmin13,

Thanks for your support. I really appreciate it. It turned out that they didn't point correctly the xref to the autoCAD file. After I told them to point it manually, everything worked out.

thanks a lot
