JTB FlexReport 6 beta 2

The second beta of JTB FlexReport 6 is available. Further down the updated downloads are identified.

Network license monitoring (FLEXlm/FlexNet/IBM LUM/12D/SPLM or most any other application usage monitoring) and reporting on is made easy. It will be useful when deciding if and when to add more licenses or to cut back on the number of licenses you have at your company. Many make use of JTB FlexReport to help splitting license and maintenance costs among their users or groups of users.

If you have a chance to give this beta a try it would be much appreciated and a help to get a stable final release. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with all your feedback, questions, comments or issue reports.

How to try this beta:

Because there are a lot of news in this release and a lot has been updated within the code and database it is recommended to not upgrade your existing installation to the Beta version unless it doesn't matter if you run into problems with your existing database. If you want to be on the safe side it is better to keep it running on a separate machine.

All setup files can be installed on a server or PC or a combination. Copy your license file to the installation folders JTB FlexReport, JTB FlexReport Service and JTB Process Service. Make sure that the ports configured are unique. If you for example already have JTB FlexReport Service on a server running on port 2000 configure this second installation to use for example port 2001 if it is available to avoid conflicts.

The chart service and client must be used with the beta of the core JTB FlexReport. If you want to use your existing data to test with take a copy of that database and and install JTB FlexReport on a separate server or a PC. ConvertAccessToSql.exe can be used to import an existing database into SQL Server.

To administer application and server groups there is no UI ready yet. You need to manually edit the tables: tblAppGroups, tblAppGroupsJunction, tblServerGroups,
tblServerGroupsJunction. The Junction tables are used to connect a a group with a Feature/Application/Server. It is also possible to select multiple features or servers manually in the chart client to get them grouped.

User or host groups are administered in the Detailed Report (Access based).

Documentation:

Here is the updated documentation that can be useful to further understand how to setup and use JTB FlexReport.

If you want some sample data right from the start to test with this database can be used. You can also configure JTB FlexReport to use this database as the core database to further add your own data to.

  • JTBFlexReportSample.zip
This database can also be imported into SQL Server with the included ConvertAccessToSql.exe tool.
  • JTBFlexReportSQLSampleDB.zip (updated for for beta 2)
This is an SQL Server backup database that you can try with if there are problems with the import.

Sometimes it might be needed to clear the cache of the web browser to get the updated files.
